As we enjoy the heat of the sun, let’s review sun protection. If you are someone who loves outdoor activities, sit and read a book or walk with friends, sun protection is key to keeping your skin healthy while still taking in the Vitamin D that we all need.

Here are some guidelines and resources to promote a healthy time in the sun.

PROPER EYEWEAR – You can wear attractive and fun sunglasses, but look for sunglasses that block out 99 to 100% of both UVA and UVB radiation,   The sun is strongest between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, but it is important to wear sunglasses always when outside.  Both glare and reflections can cause harm to your eyes, at any age.  All About Vision and Sun wear

BUG REPELLENT –
Depending on where you live, tiny and at times big bugs can be a pest.  Here are some tips to dodge those bugs:
• Use a good Essential Oil to wade off those bugs.
• If going hiking or walking into the sunset, dress for the occasion and wear clothes that will be a barrier for the bugs to attack the skin.
• Bugs are more active at night, mainly between dusk and dawn. If spending time outside with friends or activities such as camping, remember the Bug Clock Time.

A SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY  can provide a positive spin to enjoy the outdoors. Find someone who has similar health goals that allow for mutual support and enjoyment of the activity.

A GOOD BOOK – summer vacation can be the time to read that mystery that has been sitting on your shelf or the book a friend has recommended. Reading allows us to stay focused and it’s a great way to reduce stress. There are many book lists recommended on the internet and your local libraries.
